9:45am-10:45am – Is a Roundabout the Traffic Solution for Your Project?
Joseph Viscuso; Pennoni
Roundabouts still invoke memories of the old “Jersey Circles”, especially in the Philadelphia region. This presentation will review the history of the modern roundabout, how it differs from the Jersey Circle along with traffic, accident, and safety statistics. The mention of using a roundabout usually raises the temperature of the general public in opposition to this solution. This presentation will cover an actual case study from the beginning to end, the technology that was used and how public opinion changed from the initial presentation to its opening.
11:00am-12:00pm – Trends in Amenity Space Design for Multifamily Developments
Chris Garrity & Matt Caucci; Glackin Thomas Panzak Inc.
Amenity spaces have become a common element of all multifamily developments. We will be presenting a review of challenges and ideas that frequently arise when designing these spaces, citing examples from recent projects by GTP and others. We will present a variety of active and passive amenity spaces and some of the issues to be aware of when preparing a site plan to allow for these amenities.
