This presentation will focus on county comprehensive planning in Chester County and its impact on local municipalities. This is particularly relevant as the county begins to prepare its new comprehensive plan, Landscapes3. The role of the county will be illustrated with a presentation on Commercial Landscapes, a guide for local municipal officials, developers, businesses, and property owners on how to improve office parks, transit-oriented development, brownfields, and greyfields.
Attendees will earn one (1) PDH.

Soil Classification Systems: Background and Applicability
Michael Lane, Certified Professional Soil Scientist, will provide information on various soil classification systems – who classifies soil, why and how do they do it. He will focus on USDA land capability classes and hydrologic soil groups and how they are interpreted in state and local rules and regulations. Discussion will cover soil survey development and possible methods for confirming or questioning published mapping.
