This understanding, however, has not translated into actionable information needed by hydrologists and engineers. In this presentation, we will see that existing rainfall intensity-duration-frequency (IDF) statistics such as the “100-year storm”—for example, from NOAA’s Atlas 14 project—are often inadequate for current and future needs. This translates to serious deficiencies in our hydrologic design standards and infrastructure. We will discuss two solutions to address this challenge for both current and future conditions. 2022 Chester County Engineers Scholarship Application

Chester County Engineers (CCE) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization dedicated to the civil engineering profession in Chester County, PA. The organization has established a competitive scholarship for college or college-bound students in the region.  Each year, we will award a total of $2,500.00, in increments to be determined by the Scholarship Committee. QUALIFICATIONS – You must be a citizen of the United State to apply.
– You must be a resident of Chester County, PA or graduating from a high school (public or private) located in Chester County, PA.
– You must be pursuing or planning to pursue an engineering degree.
– Only those college students who will be enrolled full-time in the Fall of 2022 are eligible.
– Completed application must be received by CCE by May 1, 2022.

CCE October Member Field Trip Beaver Creek Dam Site Tour Tour Leader: Craig Thomas, Chester County Water Resource Authority When:  Monday, October 18, 2021; 2:30pm – 4:00pm Cost:  FREE (members only) Location: We will meet at the job trailer located as the end of the gravel drive at 375 E Reeceville Rd, Downingtown, PA 19335 Description:  Beaver Creek Dam, located on Beaver Creek near Guthriesville, Chester County, is a flood control dam that provides reduction of flood waters for communities located along Beaver Creek, the East Branch Brandywine Creek and the main stem of the Brandywine Creek. With technical support and funding from the USDA-NRCS, CCWRA is undertaking a rehabilitation project on Beaver Creek Flood Control Dam. This month, the contractor, KC Construction, is placing a roller-compacted concrete drop structure in the auxiliary spillway to armor the control section to prevent erosion. CCWRA Countywide Stormwater Management Model Ordinance Review Meeting

What: County-wide Act 167 Stormwater Management Model Ordinance Review When: November 5, 2021 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Where: Government Services Center Room 351 East and virtually via Zoom The Chester County Water Resources Authority (CCWRA) will host a meeting on Friday November 5th at 9:00 AM to present the final draft of the County-wide Act 167 Stormwater Management Model Ordinance. This will be the last presentation of the draft updated ordinance prior to posting it for formal public and municipal review. This meeting will serve as a Watershed Plan Advisory Committee meeting, as required by the Pennsylvania Stormwater Management Act (Act 167).
